One of my all-time favorite books is “Learning to Lead” by Fred Smith. The subtitle of the book is, Bringing out the best in people. I believe that explains a great deal about our leadership.

Someone once said “the true test of inspiration is action.” what we say as leaders, shouldn’t just motivate people, but inspire them to action. To make a life change and to ultimately make a difference.

Helping others to achieve success, is part of the formula of ones own personal success. How many people am I willing to help be great? Is a question every leader must ask.

The Apostle Paul understood the process of helping to shape believers into the image of Christ and to inspire them to mature in their devotion to him.

This is what leadership is all about: raising people’s level of maturity. (page 156) “We raise it first by bringing knowledge, then understanding, and eventually wisdom.” (How to apply that knowledge)

As Pastors, Coaches, and Leaders, people should be our primary focus. Not just leading them, but loving them. And we should not want to lead them
More than we love them and keep bringing out the best in them as our Godly assignment.

Determined Leadership

As a founding member of the John C. Maxwell Leadership Team, It has been my privilege to develop leaders and to train future leaders to live their destinies.

History is full of achievers who stood the test of time, and overcame adversity and prosperity, to remain strong. Someone once said, “Adversity and prosperity are equally challenging. To stay balanced through adversity requires strength. To stay balanced through prosperity demands integrity.”

The book of Wisdom from Proverbs 24:10 says, “you are a poor specimen if you can’t stand the pressure of adversity.” The Message Translation reads, “If you fall to pieces in crisis, there wasn’t much to you in the first place.”

In the battle between the rock and the stream, the stream wins every time. Not because of it’s strength but because of it’s persistence. The natural flow of a stream propels it towards it’s determined goal, in a prevailing direction.

As leaders, you and I should be determined to stand strong, when others have fallen by the way side and quit. Our decisions shape our character and our character will have the final say on our destination in life. And to all my leaders let me say, determination is the force within that keeps you going, keeps you pushing, keeps you progressing, it’s not what lies before you but what lies within you that determines your success.

Leadership

Leadership is the ability to influence others. This influence inspires the followers towards their true passion, ultimately empowering them to connect with God’s purpose for their lives.

My experience has taught me that the true test of inspiration is action. You and I must live everyday with a confident expectation, as our compelling destinies unfold before our very eyes.

I choose not to live my life in suspended animation, but I choose to stay on the road where a perpetual, relentless pursuit of a yes, can always be found.

You and I must act! We must take a step on to the platform, where expanded dreams and powerful possibilities, plateau and then rise again.

As a leader, let’s keep searching to find the “yes” circumstances. Because when we do, you will never negotiate with a dream.

Delight Yourself in the Lord

The Bible encourages us in Psalms 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” The word Delight means to take pleasure in, or to relish or contentment. It is so great to know that life’s true contentment and pleasure can be found in our relationship with our heavenly father. I have found that “desires are the offspring of our time with God.” What a great truth. When I draw nigh unto God, He draws nigh unto me (James 4:8). The result, dreams and desires that connect to eternal purposes and express my heart, through the heart of God.

This week, get into a quiet place and see the salvation of the Lord. Allow the Spirit of God to lead you into secret places that reveal the heart of God, and help you to express your delight in serving Him.

Why Winners Win

The month of May is always a great time to reflect on graduations and commencements. It usually denotes the end of one phase of life and the beginning, or commencement, of another. Graduation is not the end, but a new beginning or start. It is the commencing of something new.

I was thinking about winning in life and achieving personal goals and I concluded that there’s a reason why winners win in life. Just as we say leaders are readers, I believe, winners are beginners. They know how to approach life and when faced with difficulties, or disappointments, they begin again and keep going.

Let me give you some reasons Why Winners Win:
1. Winners win because they possess a philosophy of success.
2. Winners win because they desire personal growth.
3. Winners win because the handle failure successfully.
4. Winners win because they have integrity.

Everyday we live presents another opportunity to keep winning in life! So, keep standing on the ROCK and winning!!

Independence Day

Independence Day has always been an exciting time around our house. It is the day that our nation commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. The United States declared its independence from Great Britain and established itself as a nation under God. History is full of people who fought, died, lived, saved, struggled, labored, and served to establish our nation as the sweet land of liberty. My family celebrates my birthday on the 4th of July. But there is an independence that is greater than what our forefathers hoped for, and that is our choice, to say Yes! to God, and no to sin. Accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the greatest “Independence” of all. To fear God and serve Him forever. What a great price he paid for you and I. This 4th, keep standing on the Rock!

Secrets for Personal Success

One of the great things I have the privilege of doing as a Speaker and a Pastor, is to encourage people toward personal growth and development. But I realized that I can’t lead people where I am unwilling to go myself. So years ago, I took it upon myself to grow as a person and a leader. Thomas Edison once said, “The ability to apply my physical and mental energies to one problem incessantly without growing weary, is my secret to success.” I love the comment of Donald Trump who summed up the secret of success in one word: “FOCUS”. Remember, what you focus on is what you become. Take time today to do an internal audit of where you are, and where you want to be in the next five years. As you do, I believe you’ll find things in your heart that are waiting to be born. Oliver wendell Holmes said it best: “What lies before us, and what lies behind us, pales in comparison, to what lies within us.” Let me encourage you today, keep searching within for the strength to pursue God’s plans for your life, when others have quit. The Apostle Paul wrote, “My committed purpose is to know Christ.” Getting to know your heavenly Father is the real key to true life’s success. And when we become intimate with Him, I believe, we’ll be standing on the Rock!
