The new You for the New Year

26 Jan

Some of the greatest advise I ever received, came from my high school football coach, who said, “strive everyday to be the only you that you can be and be the best you.” Comparing ourselves with others for the new year, isn’t a smart thing to do. What makes one person happy, content, or successful, will never define who you were created to be.

The Apostle Paul encouraged the Corinthian believers to avoid the disease of “comparitis.” In 2 Corinthians 10:12 amp.,….”when they measure themselves with themselves and compare themselves with one another, they are without understanding and behave unwisely.” Remember this, the new you for the new year, isn’t measured by the personification of someone else’s DNA. Your life’s success is wrapped up in the personal prolification of the cell called “You”.

I have personally declared 2013 as “the year of God’s good favor!” Which means, the advantage, blessing, and kindness that you receive this year, will be because God has designed a blessing with your name attached to it. Here’s what I know, just like the Corinthian Believers, our first action must be to dedicate ourselves first to God and then to everything else in our lives. (2 Cor.8:5)

This New Year, brings with it, opportunities for new adventures, new sunsets, new mornings, new attitudes, and a plethra of moments that will define and shape our deepest ambitions. And in the end, I want to encourage you, be yourself, know yourself, develop yourself, your best self. Keep standing on the Rock!
