My experience over the past 30 years has been truly amazing. I have studied the lives of great men and women and I discovered, as all great people do, that greatness starts somewhere, but it doesn’t start great. Modern history is full of over achievers who started down the road to greatness by taking small deliberate steps towards an idea and a dream that consumed them. By little bits of will, by failing forward, by climbing mountains and scaling unpenetrable walls, they succeeded. I am convinced, “Faith is believing to the point of Action.” Believing that there’s a giant, who has defied and insulted the people of God and someone must rise up and win back their honor. King David believed to the point of action. His thought was, commitment in the midst of the conflict, creates character. In 1 Samuel 17, David’s training ground included a lion and bear that was delivered into his hands and forever established the foundation for great things in David’s life.
I believe that David incurred some scars and scratches on his legs and arms in his dual with the lion and the bear. So, facing the giant and winning that victory, was the by-product of the King’s loyalty to the God that never changes. Remember this, “In God’s economy, scars are the preparation for greatness.”
The identity of a warrior isn’t destroyed by adversity, it’s strengthened. You don’t have to be great to get started at anything, but you have to get started to be great. So, get started today and keep standing on The Rock!!
